He was beaten and bruised
Then used and abused
Day after day
Til the reaper took his life away

He sat in the back of the class
That way the others didn't kick his ass
He smelled like he was covered in oil
Every day, and never got clean of the soil

He was beaten and bruised
Then used and abused
Day after day
Til the reaper took his life away

He sat alone at the table
Til I the first person, willing and able
Sat next to him
And asked him where he'd been
He said

He was beaten and bruised
Then used and abused
Day after day
He hoped the reaper would take his life away

So I sit here now
Wondering somehow
If he'd found his hollowed ground
Or if he was just dumped to be found

He was beaten and bruised
Then used and abused
Day after day
And the reaper finally took his life away

The tone and the topic do not seem to blend well. It's such a sad topic with such a uplifting tone. If you peel the two apart, I like what you've done here. Together though, I'm not sure. ~T
