When you look into my eyes
What do you see?
You avoid my stare so often
That I cannot read you
I see the thoughts in your head
But you keep them inside
Don’t hide behind dark eyes
Your face speaks to me
Of pain? Regret? Guilt? Fear?
Often I hide behind a false mask
But my eyes speak the truth
Look deep into them and see my soul
I will not hide from pain
I face my fears with burning staresm
Claw at them with fire in my fingertips
Still you hide from what you’ve done
Still you turn away from my pain
When you look it is gentle
There is a moment of caring
But it is gone again
As you shield your eyes once more
From my curious stare
