My tears fall
A thousand raindrops forming an ocean of sorrow at your feet
You splash around in it for a bit
Before jumping to the next cloud
You leave behind a string of puddles
As we wait for someone to clean up your mess
My smile breaks
Shattered pieces on the ground again at your feet
This time they cut your skin
As you try to play in them
Leaving little scrapes from their edges
So you can be scarred too, like the rest of us
Your blood drips
The tears of a wilting red rose
Dying from your lack of care
Don’t you know that flowers need to be watered and sunned and cared for just like you?
Or is it always about you
(It’s always about you)
So I’m left here with dry eyes and a store bought smile
As I see your bloody footprints show up on everyone I meet
You try them on and see if they fit
Then shatter their hearts and self esteem
But you are never to blame
(Always the victim)
As the puddles dry
(They will never cleanse your conscience)
You can never love
(You hate yourself)
But don’t flatter yourself
They hate you too
