if i stared at the clouds long enough
i think my eyes might change from earth to sky
but not the blue of a bright day
rather the greys of storms
unsettled like riotous waves
gazing through shifting mists
mayhaps filling my mind with numbing cold
on the chance just maybe there could be
a turning to iced crystal clarity
shedding gravity gaining wings
it would be so easy to drift away then
float above and rest feet bound to stumbling
blind to so many trip hazards and pitfalls
seeking not a path of contrived destiny
instead letting it find me in the expanse
then might i look upon thee
so perfected in your quiescent apathy
damning one and all who would draw near
cursing those that would turn away
pain throwing challenge from the darkness
i would dare you stare into my eyes
fill your sight with clouds from mine
arms thrown wide and spinning
step away and fly this heaven
