No One lives in No One Land,
beside an empty sea
with beaches full of sable sand
and no one else but me.
No One takes me for a walk
and keeps me company.
(There's little here to do but talk,
with no one else but me.)
Sometimes No One likes to bring
our shovels to the sea;
in our castle, he plays king
for no one else but me.
No One's mind is full of cares;
he's troubled constantly.
So No One sits and No One stares
at no one else but me.
Late at night, when darkness comes
across our empty sea,
it's No One's voice that softly hums
to no one else but me.
Overhead the starlight gleams,
as bright as night can be
and No One says he often dreams
of no one else but me.
"My dearest wish- our hearts entwined,
as raging as the sea!"
No One says he's struck love-blind
by no one else but me.
And since I loved him from the start,
(No One, on bended knee!)
it did not hurt, to give this heart
from no one else but me.
He takes my fingers in his hand;
we watch the flooding sea.
Forever No One chose to stand
near no one else but me.
No One set my heart aglow,
though I could not be free--
an icy wind would often blow
through no one else but me.
Until one night, while No One slept
a fog crept from the sea;
with blue-lipped kisses, Death soft-swept
past no one else but me.
Morning came with grotesque charms,
without a final plea
and wrapped in No One's still-warm arms
lay no one else but me.
I shouldn't be his widowed bride,
alone along the sea,
and they say that the poets cried
a stunning eulogy.
But my heart's gone out with the tide
of this, my empty sea--
for No One lived and No One died
in no one else but me.
