There's something so timeless, in
The way she slips into her dress,
Little strings, tugging at my eyes with
Just the curve of a shoulder, the way
She can't take a step in my direction without
Shutting away everything else in the room
And filling my head with music
What if I said I love you down to
The bones in your hand?
Would you touch my face, always so classic
Just like a burning dance hall tragedy,
Teasing my open lips with a kiss before
Leaving me, in a flicker of sky blue cotton,
Trialing November fire from the tips of your hair

Now I'm kissing nicotene between gaps in the silence
Lit up, pulling hard at a buzz that I don't want anymore
Thinking that I'm only just one coma away from sleep
Sipping from a glass you left on the nightstand, tasting
sweet tea and lip stick, silent tyrant time crawling
Eerily over my scalp. Tapping out rhythm,
with the pounding on the roof

And I wish the rain outside was strong vodka, falling
from a cloudy cocaine sky
I wish all of my addictions were as devastating
As sex, flashing in your eyes
A fucking cancerous orgasm, streaming
mingled with the smoke from my mouth
Tight fingers, sticking to you

Hopelessly, Classically decayed like
Mildewed pinup girls on a drive-in theatre screen
Smoking slims and dancing to brass bands
Mutilated from the heroine; smiling black recessed eyes

I take another drag but it's nothing but a cigarette
And I silently want you back
