Tonight, in this motionless chaos
we watched the stars align
like fascination, in sequential explosions
to spell out the words that brand into my soul
they blink in time with your eyes
while you stare up in waxing wonder, turning
a simple motion into biblical prose
Fireflies, in a
Virginal sky
Elysian insects
Squalor of modern insight
so empty upon its self
it said
"Love is a dying art..."
But heaven is the pessimist tonight, my dear
And eternity will not wait for our permission
to spark up the morning sun, like
a damp cigarette, and slowly burn away, spent.
So before it's all over baby,
won't you take me in your arms
Won't you shatter my soul with a kiss
and save the biggest piece
for yourself, and yourself alone
Be mine?
