I burn, I long for your electric touch
For your lips, for your arms around me
I will myself out of reality and now,
In this timeless space, you've found me
We drift toward each other silently
Made of steam, transparent and hot
We meld together to become a single cloud
I feel like you're inside me, but you're not
Quite here, really, not quite with me
Yet I'm breathing you in; my heart is kissed
You caress me everywhere at once
Shocking my nerves with your tongue of mist
But your presence is only a dream, a wish
I find it's my own hand caressing and teasing
Not for me the pleasures of your flesh
Only fleeting visions, however pleasing
I fall back into my body, chilled by sweat,
Still tasting the euphoria lingering in the air
I feel like a tortured goddess, flushed with passion
The scents of flowers and fruit and soft love in my hair

Writer's note: I wrote this for my husband when he was in Afghanistan
