If I believed your touch could heal me
I would be knocking upon your door
If I believed your kiss could win me
I would pursue you like none before
But life is not that simple
It is an intricate weave
One thread crosses many
And yours I did not perceive
If I believed your heart could sing me
I would let you play this chord
If I believed your heat could warm me
I’d seek your shelter from this storm
But your dreams are your dreams
My own are my own
Though the thought was planted
The seed had not the need to grow
If I believed your smile could guide me
I would let this grounded heart soar
If I believed your love could save me
I would ask for nothing more
Life is all timing
It is not always good
Love rarely happens
Like we think it should
And now I drift all alone
Moving with life’s ebb and flow
Stirred by memories of a someone
I will never truly know
