A NEW DAWN (the fantasy)
Many suns have journeyed across my sky
Rising, falling then leaving this dark life
Now they are only stars in my interstellar night
Their brightness mocking the distance and remembered light
I recall each of their days as if they were yesterday
With much of their shine hidden by their clouds and mine
But now, on my skyline, I see a new sun arising
She is climbing slowly, cautiously, above my horizon
She is shining so brilliantly, should I run for shelter
Will she illuminate my deepest, darkest corners
Will she accept whatever truths she uncovers
Will she see parts of me, I have never discovered
Should I look away or stare at her until I'm blind
Should I pray that no eclipse divides me from her light
Will her radiance fade the pain of ancient stars
Will she set or stay to warm my twilight heart
For I believe she may be
The morning of my creation
I believe she may be
The sunrise of my brightest day
I believe she may be
The moment of my realization
I believe she may be
The dawning of my life

‘EVENING’ (the reality)
It is evening once again
One more sun has fallen from my sky
Another day has come to an end
One more tear to my eye
It is evening once again
Azure giving way to blackened gray
I can feel the cold setting in
I am older by one more day
Billions of suns surround me
Yet in my sky there is gloom
I don't need the multitudes
There's only one to turn it to blue
People tell me the world is turning
They say there will be another day
If there is, well, I don't care
My heart is caught in yesterday
With this mind I have wandered
Through the hopefulness of dreams
With these eyes I now wonder
At my midnight reality
Oh twilight, take me with you
Wherever it is you dwell
Don't tease me with promised light
I can't take another sunset hell
It is evening once again
One more sun has fallen from my sky
I believe this is the end
One last day has said Good-Bye
It is evening once again
The sun, now only a memory
I hate this thing called love
As the light, it's always leaving me
So many hours of darkness
Lay before this fading life
So few moments of illumination
Welcome to the edge of eternal night. . .
