The spring breeze
Rides in among the
Fields of reborn green,
Sending the last of winters
Minions scurrying away

Frozen and lifeless
The gloom masked trees
Slowly thaw,
Branches like arms,
Leaves like fingers,
Stretch and groan
As renewal courses
Through their roots

Sweet scents of bloom
Fill the crisp new air,
Creatures moving to and fro
Anticipating the good fortune
And rejoicing the end
Of their hibernating nemesis

Spring arrives and
Winter sleeps,
Snow turns to rain,
And the bite in the wind
Becomes warm,
While the fears we once felt
Melt away,
Exhilaration thrives
