Alone I sit
Pondering my thoughts
With only the rattling and hum
Of the building heat,
The silence of a winter’s night
Sends a chill through me as it
Controls my every thought and feeling

The cloudless skies
Give birth to a bright and heavenly body
Drenching an otherwise dark landscape
With a surreal radiance
That touches my heart and soul

It is then, that my mind wanders
To other times, other places
In my deepest of memories,
The sun, the ocean, the mountains,
All these visions feel valid,
The surf at my feet,
The Warmth of the sun
The smell of sweet pine in my nose,
As I long to depart my reality
But for a moment of this dream

Only the sound of a nearing car
Stirs me from this fantasy
Bringing me back into that
Which so obviously continues to be....
the chill of a winter’s night
