This was written five years ago, but thought I would share it again...

September 11th, 2001
Just another day for most,
Alarm clock rings,
Quick shower, then coffee
And out the door,
Winding our way through the streets
Trying to live the American Dream

In today, lay a secret
A hideous lie, hidden from our view,
For some this deceit would remain
Out of sight, but for others
Its ugliness would take form,
Engulfing them without remorse
Denying them the dream

Cries of pain fill the air,
Dust and debris besiege us
The blood and suffering
Stains our clothes and
Wrenches our soul,
Why did this happen?
Who stole this precious gift called life?
I don’t know, do you?

Time ticks by in our
Precious lives,
Day after day moments are wasted
Love is denied, and hate is born,
Unleashing further evils,
Tearing apart the moral fabric
That binds us

Reach out,
Take our hand,
Unify us, and let the healing begin
Through these bonds our strength
Cannot be denied,
The heart will live on,
As will the memories of those
That paid the ultimate price

* This is dedicated to everyone who lost his or her lives in the tragic events of 11 September 2001
