The Sun’s rays
Flood across me
Filling my first moments
With warmth
Mists of salt attack my senses
As cries from a distant gull and passing ship
Embrace me
Newly born whitecaps
Break against the beleaguered hull
As dolphins break the surface
Of the indigo blue waters
Deeply sighing and broad smiles
I know my purpose
Beautiful and terrible
The water churns to and fro
For it enchants me and
Lures me within its watery gaze
Its authority absolute
Its soul one with mine
Ever on it flows
Reaching beyond every horizon
To kiss gently against
The softest white sands
Of distant shores
Only to end as salty white foam
Among the feet of its lovers
As one, we exist
You and I
Old friends
A trance unbroken
Until the ashes of my being
Melt within you
